I'm trying to determine what exactly someone means when they say 'kismet'. I know it is not directly and Albanian word, but it is widely used.

For example: When inviting someone to do something, they may respond, "me kismet". So far as I can tell, that means that they are not overly excited about your invitation. I say this because if they were overly excited, it seems to me that they would just say "po, do te shkoj!" I mean, if i wanted to do what someone invited me to do, and i really wanted to do it, i would rearrange my whole schedule to make sure it happened and tell them I'd go. If i knew I couldn't do it, i would simply decline and explain why. So, what does it mean when someone answers you with "kismet". Taking any answer or opinion. Thank you!

From what I know it means fate.

Edit- When someone says kismet it means that its up to fate to decide what happens, they themselves will not know the outcome of what tomorrow has to bring. Kismet has no negativity behind it.

"Me Kismet" is used when you want to do something in a far away time in the future, or smth in the near future they really really want to. and it means if fate wants. Also another world is used "shendosh qofshim" means that when the time comes, we'd better be healthy to do that.
both words are used in the same meaning but from different places in albania.
And because mos of albanians believe in fate, they dont come overly excited when they say that because it brings bad luck.
So if someone says "kismet" is better than when he says "i want to go" :)

Pretty good example.

Lol I thought it was from Hindi but it must be from Urdu which is a Turkish word itself.

Etymology

From the Turkish kısmet, from Arabic قِسْمَة (qismä).

Fools

Back to your real account, you pale Albanian.
