I would say No, but that's just me (I'm no expert). This thing sounds like a grammar dictionary, and without sound knowledge of the subject, that just messes you up even more. I mean you don't really want to know the grammar of Albanian, as much as Albanian itself.

You are exactly right. I've started searching for Albanian songs and their lyrics (in Albanian) so I can follow along, which was a suggestion I had read in another thread... so shortly I'll be able to call my bf and sing him songs...if nothing else! :D Any suggestions on CD courses would be wonderful... the one you suggested (Albanian for the Foreign Student) in another thread is not available online :( If anyone has it and wants to sell it let me know!

Well there is one, but I warn you it's quite pricey and I'm not sure how effective it is.
Songs are a great way to learn, Albanian TV even better, and there's plenty of it online.
As far as that book goes, I've only got a copy, but if you want one I could most probably get one for you :)

The verbs are fine, but you must understand that there are several moods in the Albanian language, and each mood has several tenses.

For example.

Mister Xhan duhet te flasi.

Une duhet te flas
Ti duhet te flasesh
Ai/Ajo duhet te flasi
Ne duhet te flasim
Ju duhet te flisni
Ata/Ato duhet te flasin

Xhonsoni duhet te shohi ylberin.

Une duhet te shoh
Ti duhet te shohesh
Ai/Ajo duhet te shohi
Ne duhet te shohim
Ju duhet te shihni
Ata/Ato duhet te shohin

Hi Elle

May i ask you more, please?

I understood the rule that the verbs change if used with duhet te:

une flas / une flas
ti flet / ti flasesh
ai - ajo flet / ai - ajo flasi

But i cant get... what about verbs like "mesoj, mendoj, kuptoj"?

Can i say?

Ahmedi duhet te kuptoji.
Ti duhet te mendojesh.
I feel there must be something different here but cant guess what exactly :)

By the way, thank you very much for having provided me for the link, I found so much useful information there and, must tell you, have learnt nearly half of it :))) I have a good memory and a great desire to learn Gjuhe Shqip.

God bless you dear brother Ralph!

Of course i remember you, I always remember good people! :)

Brother, i like Albanian so much that after hard work in the daylight i come home tired.. exhausted... wanna sleep... but sit til 03:00 (although i get up at 07:00) and all this time study Albanian and listen to Albanian songs!
The only thing that i regret is that.. i havent started learning languages from Shqip :)

Brother how is life? How is your family? I hope all are fine! It is nice to get a message from you!

I thought Chechen was the hardest language on the planet.....
I never met a foreigner speaking Chechen... even poorly....
Just one russian boy who grew up in Chechnya.... :)

Otherwise, even Arabs cant spell chechen sounds...
At the same time, chechens can spell any sounds from any language of the world (and i am serious)... While learning languages i never face difficulties with any hardest sounds.... But grammar!

If the next time someone asks me "what is the most difficult language to learn?" - i will reply, without hesitations: "The Beautiful Albanian language is!" :)))

You'll get there quicker than you think. Grammar is a little bit of a pain but a simple table can help explain it all ;)

Are you joking? lol I can understand a bit of Russian (And Serbo-Croatian) and i dont even speak the language. Just learned bits and peices from my dad who speaks it. I think the slavic languages are easy. The asian languages like Chinese, Koren, Japonese would be a pain to learn in my opinion.
I don't know...I'm really struggling with Russian.

People do use gramatic words, and they are all grammatically correct. Now with every language you have words that are written the same and mean two different things, similarly you have different words which mean/describe the same thing.

You must be careful with the dictionary you are using, as some of them really are useless.

Rough explanation of the words above:

Tryezė / Tavolinė - Table (these are the two main words used for table in Albania. Tavoline is the one that is used more frequently.

Tryezė e shtruar - Dinner/Lunch/Supper is ready (the food is on the table)

Ushqim - Food

Tabelė - Board, hoarding, table (graphics, numbers), Sign

Shesh - Ground, Square, Field

Rrafshnaltė - Plateau,

Vė nė tryezė - Put on table

Paraqes raport - present a report

You learn them little by little. Learn the words and the grammar first, especially the suffixes, Elle's thread is very good for that. To check your improvement try reading excerps from books.

And both sites are good, though fjalorshqip is better.

Those translations are both correct. You don't necessarily have to live or be amongst Albanians to learn Albanian, but you need to be using the correct material. You need a "proper" dictionary, and not all dictionaries out there are reliable. You must look for one that is approved by the Education Ministry.

Those two terms are both correct, so you can choose whichever one you find easier to pronounce.

The article te is not used only for the verbs infinitive but also for certain nouns, and when used usually during the declension in the accussative case.
This noun derives from the adverb neser=tomorrow and literally means:
The very next day following today=e nesermja

also

There is another category of nouns in Albanian, called emra foljore:
te ecurit ----------comes from the verb eci=walk
te folurit----------from the verb flas=speak
te ngrenit--------from the verb ha=eat

etc

these nouns use te before, and that means that its been imported from the verb in infinitive tė ----oj.

If you want to know about chechenia you are in the WRONG forum then. We are Albanians and our land is the land of eagle. As for the music it is completely different from what is our original music. It looks like coming from India. If you want original Albanian here it is:

Hi, so my partner is Albanian and I've been with him 1 year and half, so I can speak some albanian and understand somethings he speaks about with his friends.
I've tried learning from books from my library but all the libraries where I have only stock phrasebooks and dictionaries which are very useful, but they leave me with a problem of grammar.

You see, I don't understand much about the albanian grammar I have taught myself some of it, but I want to know the albanian grammar properly.
I want to learn albanian good so that I can speak with him and his family and basically I am determined to learn, I am a full time student at college and there is no albanian courses in my stupid little town or anywhere near it.

So please if anyone could tell me some good software to use that will help me improve my vocubalary but most importantly my grammar so that I can form sentences together properly then pleaseeeee tell me!! Also I don't want to spend over £50 because my boyfriend can teach me all the words and stuff just he can't explain the grammar because his english is very good but not good enough lol. So please help,

Falemnderit
